Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

1) What is Vicinity Match?
Vicinity Match is a social networking application that can be installed on your mobile phone.  The application allows
users to find other users nearby based on the matching criteria set.

2) What version do I download?
There are 3 main versions of the application:
      - Map based version
      - Location based version (uses GPS)
      - Bluetooth based version
The
download page on this website allows users to download the optimal version for their phone based on the
technology capabilities of the phone.

The most basic version of the application is the first "
Map Based" version listed,
which only requires a phone with MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 technology.  So, if you are not sure about which version to
download, we suggest you try the basic version.

3) How do I set my current location?
Map Based Version
The application will set your current location to New York, USA, by default.  There are two ways to change your current
location:
Option 1: Select “My location” and “Mark your location on the map” option to use the map to mark your location.  Once
the map is loaded, select “Menu” and use * key and # key to zoom in and out of the map to mark your current location.

Option 2: Select “My Location” and “Enter your location by address” to set your current location info without using the
map.  Note: The “Country” and “City” fields are mandatory if you decide to enter your location using option 2.

Warning: some phones may take a long time to move through the map.  The fastest way to set your location will be to
“Enter your location by address”.

Location Based Version
If you downloaded the "Location Based" version, your current location should automatically be set.  However some
wireless carriers may not allow outside applications to access your current GPS location info.

We suggest you select “My location” from the main men and “Mark your location on the map” option to ensure your
current location is set correctly. Please check that your current location is shown on the map.  If the map does not show
your current location, you must manually set your current location.  You could do this by either selecting the “Menu”
option and then using * key and # key to zoom in and out of the map to mark your current location.

Or you could select “My Location” and then select “Enter your location by address” to enter your location info without using
the map.  Note: The “Country” and “City” fields are mandatory if you decide to enter your location by address.

Warning: some phones may take a long time to move through the map.  The fastest way to set your location will be to
“Enter your location by address”.

4) Will others see my phone number?
No.  The messages you will be sending to others from the Vicinity Match application will be routed securely via our server
located in Toronto, Canada. Therefore, the receiver of your message will not see your phone number.
They will only be able to identify you by your nickname.

Note: The others will only see the information you provided in your profile when you answered the 7 questions.  As
long as you do not provide your telephone number in your profile or in the body of one of your messages, they will not see
your phone number.

5) Do I need to have the application running for it to find matches?
Yes. The application must be launched for it to find matches.  By default the application's find matches setting will
be set to "ON".  If you want the application to not find any matches while running the application, you must go to
"Settings" from the main menu and  "TURN OFF" this setting.

If you have a clam shell phone (phone with a flip) the application will still be running in the background, even if the flip is closed.
As long as you have not exited from the application and you have not turned off the "Find Matches" capability, the application will
continue to find matches.

6) What happens if I get a phone call? Will the application still find matches while I am on a call?
The application will be in "pause" mode when you are on a call.  It will give you an option to resume operation or to
exit once your call has ended.  If you resume the application, it will continue to find matches after the call is ended.

7) How much does Vicinity Match cost?
For a limited time we are offering Vicinity Match free of charge.

Note: However, your wireless service provider may charge you for the data transfers, depending on the type of price plan
you have signed up for.
